Plant Profiles

At Great Hill, we focus our research on various ornamental trees and shrubs that are both hardy and marginal to southeast New Hampshire or Zone 6. The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map divides the US and Canada into 11 different zones which are based on the lowest average winter temperature each area is expected to receive. The first step in selecting a tree or shrub for your home or your client is to choose from a list of specimens that are hardy to your specific zone.

For each section below, we have included seasonal photographs of some of our favorites along with cultural and hardiness information from our experiences at Great Hill. If you have any questions, submit them to us and we will get back to you. Check back often to see new additions!
